Alexander L Smith

Alexander L. Smith, age 88, long-time resident of Chicago, Illinois passed away on April 10, 2024, from heart disease. Alex was born in Kolkata, India on March 3, 1936, to Francis and Lillian Smith. He got married in May 1963 and immigrated to the United States in 1974. He worked at St. Joseph Hospital in Chicago for 26 years and retired at the age of 65. He dedicated his life taking care of his beloved wife Maria at their home, who was paralyzed in 1991. He was kind, loving, generous, humble, and an excellent cook. He was an avid Chicago Bulls, Cubs, and Bears fan.
Loving husband of the late Maria Smith; beloved father of Jacqueline (Arshad) Husain, Darrel (Mabel) Smith, and Andrea (Noel) Joseph; and proud grandfather of nine grandchildren: Nicholas, Jonathan, Emili, Ian, Daniel, Ivan, Samantha, Michelle, and Ashley.
