Andrew William Garay

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Andrew Garay in Chicago on January 23, 2026, at the age of 30. Born on August 7, 1995, Andrew was a beloved son, brother, and father, and he will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

Andrew is survived by his loving mother, Deborah Knutt, and his father, Manuel Garay. He cherished his siblings: sisters Samantha Knutt, Crystle Knutt, and Isa Garay, and brothers Jason Knutt Jr. and Manuel Garay Jr. He was also a proud father to his daughter, Amunet Garay. He joins his stepfather, Jason Knutt, who passed away in 2024.

A dedicated veteran of the United States Army, Andrew served as a Military Police officer. After his military service, he transitioned to a career as a delivery driver for FedEx, diligently working towards his dream of becoming a police officer with the Chicago Police Department.

Andrew had a passion for life, enjoying video games, spending time at the gym, and being surrounded by the love of his family. His vibrant spirit and warm heart left an indelible mark on everyone he encountered.

A celebration of Andrew’s life will be held to honor his memory. The details will be shared with family and friends.
